Former BMW Motorsport Boss Karl Heinz Kalbfell Killed in a Motorcycle Accident

According to the report by Detroit Free Press, the tragic accident happened on last Saturday in England. During the days of his life he achieved a significant position in the automobile industry. Kalbfell had a studied marketing and technology of industrial production from the university called FH Druck located in Stuttgart and got a degree in engineering management . Kalbfell began his career under the reputed German automobile manufacturer BMW in the year 1977 as an engineer in the communications department. In the year 1994 he became the BMW Motosport chairman. He later was the backbone for BMW in the Motosport operations and in manufacturing of BMW’S F1 cars. He also contributed to the development of M cars. He worked for the companies Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Rolls Royce in the senior positions. He played a key role in the BMW revival of Mini Brand from 2002 to 2004.

In the year 2005 he joined the Fiat group and served under the position Alfa Romeo chief operating officer and during the same year he was recognized as Maserati CEO. After the year 2006 he left the job and opened his own consultancy by the name Karl Heinz Kalbfell Consultancy. Till the year 2007 he had served the car manufacturer Lotus, Russian manufacturer GAZ and Magna Europe.

BMW expressed its gratitude towards Kalbfell after hearing the sorrowful incident about his death. Kalbfell was a motorcycle enthusiast and was preparing for competing in Landsdowne Classic Series at Brands Hatch. During the practice unfortunately got into an accident and lost his life. While driving he was hit by a fellow competitor and motorcycle lost control and he fell down. He got major injuries and could not survive after transporting him to hospital. He died at the age of 63.
