The Italian luxury automobile manufacturer, one of the most sought after automobile manufacturers of the 21st century and a part of the Fiat Group, Maserati has revealed their Quattroporte diesel at the ongoing Frankfurt Motor Show, which instigated on the 10th of September 2013. The followers of automobile news may recall that Maserati revealed their first diesel car in the form of the Ghibli at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show that happened in the month of April earlier this year.
The Quattroporte has rented its diesel engine from the smaller Ghibli. So that means both the cars are now powered by the same 3.0 liter V6 turbo diesel, although vaguely re-tuned to pull the extra weight around. The new car will be offered to the customers in two variations, the first or base variant will produce 250 bhp and the top end will produce 275 bhp. The top end model with 275 bhp is predicted to reach the 100 Kmph mark from a standstill in just 6.4 seconds. Apart from this, no other details about the pricing, mileage and a few other things have been revealed by the company.
However, sources say that Maserati is aiming to achieve its goal of the 50,000 unit sales figure within 2015. Just a few days after the introduction of the Ghibli and the new Quattroporte, the company has witnessed an increase in sales from 6,300 cars per year to 16,000 automobiles. Apart from these two cars helping out, the Levante SUV which is expected to be exposed next year, is predicted to lend a big hand to increase the sales and achieving their target. The Levante will be a luxury crossover, which is the kind of car that is in great demand in the global automobile market. Apart from the Quattroporte, a concept car called the Zegna was also displayed, this car is all set to be released next year.
