The German automobile Volkswagen has revealed the concept of Golf Sportsvan by exhibiting the design through images. The car is considered as the successor of Golf Plus and was revealed at Frankfurt motor show today. The car is based on the Volkswagen MQB platform. It includes the Golf Hatchback which stands as a multi award winning car. The design of the exterior clearly follows the appearance of Volkswagen DNA and Golf.

The dimension of the new Sportsvan is 83 mm longer than the Golf, 134 mm longer than Golf Plus and 224 mm shorter than the Golf Estate. The wheelbase has a dimension of 2,685 mm which is 48 mm superior than the Golf. This provides the model with more interior space. The Sportsvan is 80 mm wider at 1870 mm, 126 mm higher at 1,578 mm. The rear seats can slide both forward and backward by 180 mm, which increases the luggage and passenger space.

Golf Sportsvan has a safe and strong body structure that supports optional active and passive safety systems. The car has Pre-Crash system, post collision braking system, pretension seatbelts and others. It is packed with electronic aids like front assist, adaptive cruise control, and city emergency braking, which helps in eliminating the chance of accidents to a greater extent. The car consists of a driver alert system, Dynamic light assist system and camera operated lane assist system.

The Blind Spot Monitor of the Golf Sportsvan assists the driver for exiting the parking spaces. The area around the vehicle is monitored by this equipment and ensures the safe and easy reversing of the car. The Sportsvan will be available in variations, one with a diesel engine and other with petrol with conformance to emission standards. It will also have start/stop battery regeneration systems.

Sportsvan Blue motion variants are expected to have four turbocharged petrol engines 108.5 BHP, 83.8 BHP, 123.3 BHP and 148 BHP and 3 diesel turbo engines 2.0 liter 148 BHP, 1.6 liter 108.5 BHP, and 1.6 liter 88.8 BHP. The average expected mileage of these cars will be 27.1 Km per liter. All the type of engines could be included with a DSG gearbox. The car is expected to be launched in the mid 2014 in the UK. The label of the car will be confirmed closer to the launch. It will undeniably not include Sportsvan in its name.
