General Motors India registered a loss of approximately 35 per cent in its total sales last month as compared to the previous year. The company has sold 5,302 units in the month of April 2014 against 8,196 units sold in the same period last year. Total sales comprises 1,828 units of Beat, 1,267 units of Tavera and 939 units of Chevrolet Enjoy while the company has not revealed the figures for its other models.

“Customer sentiment continues to remain negative even with price reduction on account of excise duty cut and other market promotion schemes.  Going by the market scenario, we expect the challenging times to continue as the general economic conditions continue to remain depressed. The buoyancy in the market is completely missing and we don’t see any market upturn before the new government assumes office", said P. Balendran, Vice President, General Motors India.

Chevrolet's India portfolio currently have eight models on offering- Spark, Beat, Chevrolet SAIL, SAIL U-VA, Cruze, Tavera, Chevrolet Enjoy and Captiva. Starts with the Spark in entry-level hatchback segment, the product range goes upto the loaded Captiva that compete with the likes of Toyota Fortuner in the Indian market.
