American marquee, General Motors is looking to discontinue the production of the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV. The car was launched in 2013 in both petrol and diesel version, in fact the MPV also received the facelift and since then it has managed to cross 300 units every month. Reportedly, Chevrolet is producing about 3900 units of the vehicle to dispatch in the coming month.
In May, Chevrolet sold a total of 2615 units in the domestic market, registering a decline of 20.4 percent. While the company has exported 1680 units of the MPV recording a growth of 321 percent. The company has shifted its focus towards exports and doubled its export target for this year. It is also expected that the carmaker could discontinue other products like Sail hatchback and Sail Sedan this financial year. According to industry sources, the Sail Sedan is expected to be replaced by Essentia, a new sub-four meter compact Sedan.
Under the hood, Chevrolet Enjoy is powered by both diesel and petrol engines. The diesel version of extracts power from a 1.2-litre diesel engine that is capable to generate a power worth 76bhp and a peak torque of 188Nm. On the contrary, the petrol version is powered by a 1.4-litre petrol engine that delivers power worth 102bhp along with a maximum torque of 131Nm. Transmission duties are carried out by a 5-speed manual transmission, sending drive to the front axle.
Chevrolet has also announced that it will launch at least five products in the next 24 months in the country. While the Beat Activ is already scheduled to launch in first quarter of 2017.
