Remember our detailed article on the Navigation system in cars? Well, among all the companies that provide hand held devices for navigation purposes, Google is a prominent player. Google maps are easily accessible and most sought after navigation system available right now. And to add the exclusivity of the product, Google has added a new Lane Guidance Feature for India.
The new lane guidance system on the Google Maps is one of the most important additions to the service, realizing the traffic conditions, India suffers from. The feature not only adds to the convenience, but also helps in avoiding sudden turns by recommending the correct lane to stick to before the turn comes. The system also tells the number of lanes on the road you are travelling.
The Google Maps lane guidance feature has been introduced in 20 major cities for now, including Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Coimbatore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Nagpur, Lucknow, Mysore, Thiruvananthapuram, Surat, Vadodara and Visakhapatnam. Additionally, one can report if the number of lanes displayed on Google Maps is incorrect or is giving wrong directions.
Added features help users from opting for turn-by-turn voice guidance in Hindi, along with an option to choose English in Indian accent (Hinglish, as we fondly say it). Google had already introduced Hindi text for maps last year to reach a wider section of the audience. Accessible through iOS and Android, Google maps are one of the most interactive navigation services around the globe.
