Tata Motors has announced price reduction of upto 12 percent in its entire portfolio, depending upon the model and variant. This slashing in price comes in light of the recently implemented Goods & Service Tax (GST), which replaces all the existing tax systems in the country. The company has, thereby, extended the GST benefits directly to the buyers by reducing the price of its model range. Earlier, several leading automakers including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Toyota, Renault, Nissan, Ford and Skoda passed such similar benefits directly to the customers.
Commenting on the price reduction, Mr. Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, said, “We whole-heartedly welcome the initiative by the Union Government for introducing GST thereby bringing in one uniform tax across the country. This will enhance the ease of doing business and usher in a new era for the economy in general and especially, for the automotive industry. Following the roll out of GST, we have decided to pass on the entire benefit to our customers. We are offering a price reduction of upto 12% ranging between INR. 3300 and INR. 217000 depending on the model and variant. With a strong focus to encourage positive buying sentiments, we have taken this step.”
Tata's entry-level offering in the Indian market is Nano small car, which would get cheaper by Rs. 3300 depending upon the variant. The maximum benefits of the GST would go to the Hexa SUV, which is the home-grown automaker's flagship product. The range-topping variant of Tata Hexa would be economical by a massive Rs. 2.17 Lakhs in India. Meanwhile, Tata Tiago has been doing exceptionally well for the company as it recently went pass 1 Lakh bookings with over 65000 units being delivered. It would also get cheaper by Rs. 7000-12,000, making it even more desirable and reasonable. The hatch even featured in the list of top 10 selling passenger vehicles in India in the month of June 2017 by recording a sales of 5438 units, just one unit behind Renault Kwid which occupied ninth slot in the list.
