Mahindra & Mahindra has appointed Harish Chavan as the head of its tractor subsidiary Swaraj. He replaces Viren Popli who is now responsible for Mahindra North America operations.
Mr Chavan has been associated with Mahindra & Mahindra for more than two decades. Until now he was working as Chief of International operations with Mahindra & Mahindra Farm Equipment Sector (FES).
He holds a technical degree from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute. He has also studied finance from NMIMS, Mumbai.
Swaraj Tractors, formerly known as Punjab Tractors Limited, was taken over by Mahindra Group in 2007 and later in 2009 it was renamed as Swaraj Division.
Viren Popli, the new president & CEO of Mahindra North America will replace Mani Iyer and report to Rajesh Jejurikar, President of Farm Equipment Sector Mahindra & Mahindra Limited.
In 2017, Bharatendu Kapoor stepped down after thirty three years with Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M). He joined Tractors and Farm Equipment (TAFE) as president - Sales & Marketing, just five years before his retirement.
