The Milwaukee-based motorcycle maker, Harley-Davidson is looking forward to buying Ducati from Volkswagen group. The VW group went through significant losses from Dieselgate and now the group is auctioning Ducati to help cover up some of the losses during that phase. Harley is reportedly looking forward to placing a bid ($1.67 billion) to buy Ducati from VW group.
Harley-Davidson has been selling motorcycles since the very start and is among one of the oldest motorcycle making companies present in the world. Harley-Davidson products have a lineage attached to it and the brand sells bikes purely based on heritage and legacy of the brand while Ducati on the flip side is famous for adapting newest technologies and implementing latest electronics on its motorcycles. Both are world apart in terms of their products, but there is no denying that Harley-Davidson can surely use some modern resource from the exotic Italian motorcycle maker to help better its products and appeal to EDM era of audience, not just the rock n roll.
Apart from Harley, Bajaj Auto is also one more competitor in the list who is looking for an opportunity to get its hands on Ducati while it can. A tentative bid from Harley-Davidson is expected in the month of July. Stay tuned as we bring you latest updates on the same.
