The company has officially announced huge plans for developing motorcycle markets such as India. Harley-Davidson plans on entering the 250-500cc motorcycle market in official partnership with an Asian bike manufacturer. The joint venture with a local manufacturer would help to keep the costs in check, and ultimately making the brand more accessible to a wider audience. It’s the same set of track that was earlier seen used by motorcycle companies like KTM, Triumph and BMW Motorrad, which went into official partnership with Bajaj and TVS respectively.
The new smaller motorcycles may use a new single-cylinder platform which will make it a direct rival to the Royal Enfield motorcycles, but technical details on the same are still foggy. Apart from this, the company has also officially unveiled the new bikes such as Streetfighter 975, Pan America 1250 and the Custom 1250. With the introduction of these new products, the company plans on entering into different new segments including Adventure Touring. Also, by late 2019, the company plans on introducing the Livewire electric bike to explore the electric motorcycle market. Also, smaller electric bikes based on the same Livewire project will be introduced on the later stages. Stay tuned for more information.
