Harley-Davidson, the American motorcycle maker is planning to launch its first production electric bike. It has already announced that the company is looking to invest aggressively in the development of electric motorcycle technology.
The CEO of the company said that the project of the electric motorcycle is under active development and it will come up with its first electric product within 18 months. However, it is believed that it’s going to be the same bike that was showcased as the Project LiveWire at an event in 2014. He also added that the idea of electric bikes is currently in its infancy today, but the company is set to bring electric bikes that will add excitement to your ride.
Harley-Davidson is currently trying to expand its EV capabilities for its further development process. Moreover, it is also excited about the role the electric bikes will play in the further growth of the company in future.
The announcement of the electric bikes making its way soon comes as a surprise. The company also announced that it will close down its plant in the Kansas City and strengthen the Pennsylvania plant in York.
The motorcycle showcased as the Project LiveWire concept also went for several test drives, but never came into the production phase, expect this time, when the company gets into its grooves to launch the electric model soon.
