Harley-Davidson US recalling over 54,000 bikes
Snapshot: The two separate recalling campaigns by Harley-Davidson US affect over 54,000 bikes
Harley-Davidson is repairing over 45,901 bikes in a major recall that includes motorcycles like 2014 CVO Road King, the 2014-2015 Electra Glide Ultra Classic, Ultra Classic - Twin Cooled, Ultra Limited, Police Electra Glide, Street Glide, Street Glide Special, and CVO Street Glide; as well as the 2015 model year units of the Electra Glide Ultra Classic Low, Ultra Limited Low, Ultra Classic Low - Twin Cooled, Road Glide Special, and Road Glide. In these motorcycles the master cylinder is suffering from a major issue in which it loses its ability to work especially after long periods of being parked.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that “a chemical reaction inside of the sealed clutch system creates gas bubbles which may cause loss of clutch lift." Due to this issue around 313 warranty claims, 31 customer complaints, 27 incidents or crashes, and 4 minor injuries possibly linked to the issue. Harley will fix this issue by flushing the system and rebuilding the master cylinder. Similarly for a smaller recall, around 8,904 motorcycles will be repaired that includes 2015 XG500 and XG750 which are known as Street 500 and Street 750 in India. These motorcycles were delivered without a rear reflector assembly and so they don't meet federal guidelines.
