Lately we have seen that every new safety technology regarding two wheelers is born after some personal experience of the rider. This invention is no different, as the Third Eye Design, a company based in U.S, presents the HelSTAR, a wireless brake technology that can be put on any helmet and will tell the motorists behind you, when you are braking or turning, using LED lights, placed in the line of sight of the followers.

The motorcycle visibility has been an issue for long now. Studies around the world shows that the main reason motorcyclists get hit is because they aren't seen. The reason being, motorcycle brake lights have a low placement and the approaching cars or trucks can hit them while they are stopped in traffic.The story of the HelSTAR began after a near collision with a motorcyclist who had a low-mounted hard-to-see taillight.

"We’ve developed proprietary technology, obtained a patent, met with thousands of motorcyclists and performed national market research. We’ve built a leadership team of internationally recognized experts, syndicated authors and leaders with impressive track records. Today, after nearly 10 years of research and development, focus group studies, RF engineering, patent work, national market research and a U.S. pilot, we’re ready to go to market." said a statement by Third Eye Technology.

A pilot project was started in U.S in June and participants, including a diverse group of experienced riders including motorcycle dealer owners, master mechanics, state safety coordinators and instructors, neurosurgeons, and emergency room trauma doctors, took part in it. The results were simply outstanding for the company. "In every case, we were able to adjust and fine-tune our units without hardware modification—a testament to our design and technology innovation," said one member of the design team.
