Hero Motocorp. Inaugurates their manufacturing facility in Colombia

As we all know all the smart corporations are expanding their international reach to attract as much global audience as they can. And doing the same, Hero Motocorp. Ltd (HMCL) yesterday inaugurated their first international manufacturing facility at Villa Rica, in Colombia. As they mentioned this new facility will act as their Hub in the Andean countries and will make them closer to the North American markets such as Mexico and the US. This new facility is the 5th manufacturing plant from Hero as the rest plants are situated here in India.  The Colombian facility is spread over 17 acres (68,000 sq meters) of land at the Parque Sur free trade zone at Villa Rica in the state of Cauca - about 500 km south-west of Bogota. At the present phase the plant will have an initial production capacity of 80,000 units per annum which will be incremented to 150,000 units in the next phase.

The new plant is operational now and will be manufacturing ten products including the all new scooter Dash. The plant’s inauguration was done by Honorable Mr. Juan Manuel Santos, President of Colombia and Mr. Pawan Munjal, Chairman, MD and CEO of Hero MotoCorp Ltd.

As mentioned in the press release, Mr. Pawan Munjal, Chairman, MD and CEO of Hero MotoCorp Ltd. stated, “It is a historic milestone for Hero MotoCorp as this facility in Colombia is our first plant outside of India. I wish to thank the Honorable President for joining us on this memorable occasion. This facility will be a key resource for us as we plan to further consolidate our market position with a range of products across segments. The plant will also act as a guiding light, as we work towards transforming ourselves into a global automotive giant with manufacturing facilities across the globe.”
