Hero MotoCorp has decided to have a new production unit in Karnataka at Mummigatti near Dharwad. The new unit will be spread across an area of 300 acres and will cost Rs. 1,450 crores. The unit once ready will be able to produce 1.8 million two-wheelers annually.

Karnatak government is taking all the steps to ensure that the meeting on August 3, 2014 with Hero MotoCorp officials turns out to be successful. The meeting will be about Hero MotoCorp's demands from government in terms of providing some incentives and facilities at the site. Karnataka government has already approved the proposal to supply power and water at the proposed unit.

If Hero MotoCorp's dream turns into a reality, it will be sixth two-wheeler manufacturing unit in Mummigatti.
