Hero Splendor iSmart BS Vl launched at Rs 64,900.
Gets programmed fuel injection to meet new emission norms.
Other upgrades include a longer wheelbase, brighter headlamp, more suspension travel, new chassis.
Hero MotoCorp has launched the Splendor iSmart BS Vl at Rs 64,900, ex-showroom Delhi. This makes it the first two-wheeler that meets the BS Vl emission requirements in the Indian market after it was the first two-wheeled product to meet BS lV requirements three years ago.
The Splendor iSmart BS Vl gets a new diamond frame. It also gets 15mm more suspension travel, a wheelbase that is longer by 36mm, and of course, a BS Vl compliant engine.
The engine is based on a new 110cc platform and gets programmed FI to meet the new emission requirements, which are a steep jump from the current norms – a 45 percent reduction in carbon monoxide and an 88 percent reduction in nitrogen oxides. Hero claims increased fuel efficiency as well, thanks to a 10 percent increase in torque across the rev range. The figure now stands at 9.89Nm, up from 9Nm.
There is 15mm more ground clearance, bringing it to 180mm, although the seat height is identical to the outgoing model. Hero also has increased the headlamp brightness.
The Hero Splendor iSmart BS Vl will be available across all Hero dealerships in the next 3-4 weeks. The Hero Splendor iSmart BS Vl competes with the Honda Livo, Honda Dream Yuga, TVS Victor, Bajaj Platina 110 and Bajaj Discover 110.
