Hero Xpulse 200, the highly anticipated entry-level off-roader motorcycle from the home-grown motorcycle manufacturer is bound to be launched in the early weeks of April 2019. The Hero Xpulse photos of test mules and production-spec versions are doing the rounds on the social media platforms for quite some time now. Motorcycle enthusiasts are eagerly waiting to see the Xpulse 200 in flesh. The off-roader was first showcased at the EICMA 2017 for the very first time and then Hero took it to the Auto Expo 2018 (Delhi).

Hero also showcased a tourer sibling of the Xpulse 200, called as Xpulse 200T, at the recently concluded EICMA 2018. Both these motorcycles will get similar mechanicals and looks but the character and soul of these machines will be certainly distinct. The world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer introduced Impulse 150 that got appreciated by enthusiasts for its looks and potential. Impulse became a hit in the Indian market as there was no other motorcycle in the entry-level off-roader segment, but, unfortunately, Hero had to discontinue the Impulse 150 due to the underpowered motor and decreasing demand.

The upcoming Hero Xpulse 200 siblings are considered to be the successors to the Impulse. Motorcycle aficionados are already hooked on the Xpulse 200 and the home-grown motorcycle manufacturer expects the Xpulse 200 and Xpulse 200T to drive the sales numbers. There is no official information about the motorcycles but the production-spec images surfaced online reveal a number of significant features about the machines. Here are the top 5 things that you need to know about the upcoming Hero Xpulse 200 and Xpulse 200T.

Design - Rugged and Off-Road Ready

Hero Xpulse 200 images reveal a taller stance of the motorcycle that gives it a unique look. The motorcycle will get a round headlamp unit consisting of LED DRLs. Hero Xpulse 200 will be equipped with an upswept exhaust muffler, front suspension fork gaiters, knuckle guards and a metal engine bash plate. The dual-tone colour on Hero Xpulse 200 will make it more attractive. The Xpulse 200 was showcased in Delhi (Auto Expo 2018) with side panniers mounted on it for long tours but now we know that Hero will also be launching a touring friendly machine  - Hero Xpulse 200T. Both the motorcycles will feature a small smoked windscreen to protect the rider from windblast.

Engine

Both the motorcycles will be powered by a 200 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled motor as seen on the Hero's Xtreme 200R. As reported earlier, the engine will be equipped with fuel-injection technology as well. This will certainly increase the efficiency of both motorcycles. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox and churn out 19 bhp of max power and 17.1 Nm of max torque. The borrowed engine will be tuned differently for both the Hero Xpulse 200 and Xpulse 200T, keeping in mind the distinct characters of the machines. The power figures are average but enough for an entry-level motorcycle.

Hero Xpulse 200 Features

Hero Xpulse 200 and Xpulse 200T will be equipped with disc brakes at the front and rear. Both the machines will get a single-channel ABS unit adding to the safety quotient of the bike. The siblings will have more ground clearance and suspension travel, making them more practical machines. Both the machines will get a single piece seat, a narrow one on the Xpulse 200 and a touring friendly one with more cushioning on the Xpulse 200T. The Hero Xpulse 200T will get alloy wheels with tubeless tyres and the Xpulse 200 will be equipped with spoke wheels. Both the motorcycles will get a digital display with turn-by-turn navigation system and an under seat USB charger.

Hero Xpulse 200 Specifications

The Hero Xpulse 200 will get a 21-inch front wheel and 19-inch at the rear, running on Ceat Gripp rubber. The front and rear wheels of the tourer - Xpulse 200T are shod with MRF Nylogrip Zapper and MRF Revz tyres, respectively.  The Xpulse 200's seat height will be 825 mm and may scare shorter riders a bit but as mentioned above, the narrow seats will assist them to put their feet on the ground safely. Both the motorcycles will get different sprockets as well. Reports suggest that the Xpulse 200's front forks will have a 190 mm of wheel travel and the rear monoshock has a 170 mm of travel.

Hero Xpulse 200 Price

The home-grown motorcycle manufacturer has not dropped any official words on the pricing but we expect the Hero Xpulse 200 price in India to be around Rs. 1 to 1.30 lakh. The touring-friendly Xpulse 200T will be priced a little lower than its off-roader sibling. Key competitors of the motorcycles will be Bajaj Pulsar 220F and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.
