Hero MotoCorp showcased the HX250R concept at the 2014 Delhi Auto Show for the first time. The Hero HX250R was highly appreciated by enthusiasts due to its looks and a higher capacity motor. It sported dual-unit headlamps, digital instrument cluster, under seat exhaust muffler, bigger wheels, meaty tyres and body fairings. But, it never became a production-spec model due to reasons unknown.
Hero launched the Xtreme 200S which looks like the Hero HX250R but mechanically, it borrows a number of equipment from its naked roadster sibling - the Hero Xtreme 200R. Hero Xtreme 200S is launched at a price of Rs 98,500 (ex-showroom). And, here are the top 5 things you should know about the latest offering of Hero MotoCorp - Xtreme 200S.
The Hero Xtreme 200S is a faired and premium city motorcycle and looks very stylish. It has got a single piece headlamp unit surrounded by piano black finish that looks sharp and premium. The smoked windscreen helps the motorcycle to become more aerodynamic. The side body fairings and a muscular tank make the bike look super sporty. The tail is sharp and the rear side is identical to Hero Xtreme 200R. The rear tyre is bigger which complements the overall presence of the Xtreme 200R. Also, it has got a bigger rear sprocket than the Xtreme 200R. It is available in three colour schemes - Sports Red, Mapple Brown and Panther Black.

The Xtreme 200S is powered by a single-cylinder 199.6 cc, air-cooled motor. The same motor also powers the Xtreme 200R, Xpulse 200 and 200T. Hero Xtreme 200S engine is capable of churning out 18.4 bhp of peak power at 8,000 rpm and 17.1 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The power figures are enough for daily city riding. A 5-speed constant mesh gearbox is married to the engine. The engine sits in a Diamond type frame.
The stylish Hero Xtreme 200S sports LED lighting both in the headlamp and tail light. The headlamp also houses LED DRLs. Hero has equipped the Xtreme 200S with a single-channel ABS unit to enhance the braking power of the motorcycle. Hero Xtreme 200S has got a digital instrument cluster which is very informative. It has got Bluetooth pairing system through which the rider can get the call alerts on the screen. The instrument cluster also shows service reminders and has a gear position indicator as well. The fuel capacity of Hero Xtreme 200S is 12.5-litre.
The suspension duties are carried by a 37 mm telescopic front forks and a 7-step adjustable monoshock at the rear. The braking responsibility is on the 276 mm single disc at the front and a 220 mm single disc at the rear. As mentioned above, the motorcycle is equipped with single-channel ABS to further enhance the braking power. It will certainly help the Xtreme 200S in packed city traffic. The bike runs on 17 inchers at both front and back. The seat height is set at 795 mm and makes the Xtreme 200S accessible to shorter riders as well. The wheelbase of Xtreme 200S stands at 1337 mm and it has got 165 mm of ground clearance. Hero Xtreme weighs 149 kg (kerb).
Hero MotoCorp has given the Xtreme 200S a very competitive price of Rs 98,500 (ex-showroom). Hero Xtreme 200S will replace the Hero Karizma ZMR which is facing a tough time in driving sales numbers. At this price point, Xtreme 200S will be up against 2017 Bajaj Pulsar RS 200, 2018 TVS Apache RTR 200 and 2019 Yamaha FZ.
