Hero MotorCorp showcased the concept XF3R at the 2016 Auto Expo and if media reports are to be believed, the near-production version is expected to be displayed at the Auto Expo 2018, alongside other models from the company. In January 2016, the company applied for the production Hero XF3R’s patent and if all goes well, it could be launched in India by mid-2018. Reports further suggest, the 300cc premium bike is in the final phase of testing and will sit at the top of Hero’s product line-up. With the new 300cc premium bike, Hero will make inroads into the thriving mid-size motorcycle segment.
Spawned out from the XF3R concept version, the pre-production Hero XF3R has reportedly received several changes based on the feedback gathered by the engineering team. With several changes on board, the pre-production version is expected to have better visual appeal.
To give it a cusp over rivals in the growing premium motorcycle segment, the company could price it aggressively. The Gurgaon-based two-wheeler manufacturer is pinning a lot of hopes on their 300cc premium bike. Upon its launch, the Hero XF3R will be at loggerheads with the -BMW’s upcoming bike based on the single-cylinder, 313cc engine platform, TVS Apache RR 310, BMW’s upcoming G 310R and G 310 GS models, set for launch sometime in 2018.
The single cylinder, 300cc motorcycle will be a more premium offering than the upcoming Hero Xtreme NXT and is expected to feature the top-notch fit and finish. According to Hero MotoCorp, the “Balance and form” of the XF3R concept will be used in the future naked bikes.
