Honda Cars India is all set to launch the ninth-generation Accord saloon in the country. According to a recent report on Car and Bike, the new saloon would be launched next month in India, while exact date is yet to be announced. It is also being learnt that Honda Accord would also be introduced in a hybrid avatar. Just so you know, the Japanese automaker had showcased the ninth-generation Accord to the Indian people at the 2016 Auto Expo in February.
The India-spec Honda Accord is likely to feature a 7.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay. In addition, the saloon would get rearview camera, Active Cornering LED headlamps, Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) and 6 airbags as standard features. The hybrid variants would flaunt Clear Blue accented front grille and Hybrid badges to differ themselves from the regular variants. The Accord would be the only Honda product in India with hybrid powertrain and technology. It would be challenging the likes of Toyota Camry and Volkswagen Passat in the Indian market with estimated price in range of Rs. 28-32 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
Under the hood, the Accord hybrid would have a 2.0L 4-cylinder Atkinson Cycle i-VTEC engine, which would be combined with two electric motors and a 1.3 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery. It would develop a maximum power output of 215bhp while returning an impeccable mileage of 23.8kmpl. It would have carbon emissions of merely 99 gram/km. The Accord hybrid would also get benefitted from the FAME India (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric vehicles in India) initiative just like Toyota Camry. Just so you know, the company would also launch Brio facelift in the next couple of weeks in the country.
