Honda Accord, a much loved luxury sedan in the Indian car market will make a come back, but this time Honda has planned to route it into the heart of its consumers by packing it with a Hybrid motor. Not just being a hot seller, but also a paradigm sedan for all the driving enthusiasts. But by the end of 2013 this full-size model was off its production line in the country, due to buyer opting for SUVs and entry level premium brand offerings.
We know, Toyota Camry hybrid has started to gain ground with over 700 units of the product being sold in India since its launch 8 months ago, and this is the reason, the new Accord will make a comeback. The facelift has recently been unveiled at Detroit Auto Show 2016, and it is this car which will touchdown in the country. It is expected that the US-specs Accord will make its way in India.
The facelift has given a futuristic appearance, but it is expected that the thick metal grille with the enhanced LED headlights is not carried over to the Hybrid version. The model is expected to be offered with plenty of goodies like Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
Honda Accord will be powered by a 2-litre 16-valve i-VTEC petrol engine connected to the electric motor which draws power from the on-board lithium-ion battery. The petrol engine will produce 141 bhp and the combined output of the system is a 196bhp with a 306Nm of torque. It is paired with an electronic CVT, which is designed to handle all that torque. We can assume, the model could also return in fully-loaded variant pricing ranging between Rs 28-32 lakh for the 189 bhp, 2.4-litre petrol CVT and the hybrid versions.
Honda Accord will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016, and it is expected that the market launch and the price announcement could happen in April 2016.
