The Honda Activa has sold 13,93,256 units since April 2019.
Year on year growth is negative.
However, it remains the highest-selling two-wheeler during that period.
Sales are now picking up thanks to new launches and the festive season.
The Honda Activa has sold 13,93,256 units since the current financial year began on April 2019. This is a 22 percent reduction over the sales from the same period a year ago, but it still remains the highest-selling two-wheeler in the Indian market during this time period.
The scooter segment as a whole has slowed down, with the April-September period showing a decline of 17 percent. The Activa also was the leading two-wheeler in the month of September, selling nearly 2.49 lakh units.
The numbers have been climbing slowly since June, and new variants of the Activa being launched have been the driving force behind this increase.
The Activa 5G Limited Edition was launched at the end of May, and Honda says it has had to more than double its production of this variant to meet the demand for it. The Activa 5G Limited Edition adds dual-tone paint schemes and 10 cosmetic additions to the standard Activa 5G.
September also saw the launch of the Activa 125, which is HMSI’s first BS Vl product. It has fuel injection to meet the new emission norms, and generates marginally less power than the current Activa 125, at 8.1 bhp.
The festive season traditionally sees a big spike in sales for the Activa, so it should help right the ship somewhat, but overall it is doubtful that it will exceed last year’s numbers.
