Japanese auto maker, Honda announced that its compact sedan, Honda Amaze has crossed the sales milestone of 200,000 units in the country. The car was launched in April 2013 and was a first offering by the brand in the diesel segment. Moreover, as a first product in the company’s line up to offered in both petrol and diesel variants.
Speaking on the success of the Honda Amaze, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Limited, said, “Honda Amaze has established itself as a very successful entry sedan in the Indian market. During the span of 3 years, it has achieved sales milestone of 200,000 units bringing new customers into Honda fold. Honda launched the Amaze facelift in March earlier in 2016 with a redesigned, bold front fascia, premium interiors and many new features like a new 3D Speedometer design with Multi Information Display (MID). The new compact sedan comes equipped with the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). It is available in 4 grades in both petrol and Diesel. – E, S, SX and VX in Manual Transmission, while the CVT is available in S and VX petrol grades.
Under the hood, the Amaze is powered by the same 1.2-litre four-cylinder i-vtec petrol motor that the Brio hatchback has and delivers 86bhp of power at 6000rpm while the torque produced is 109Nm at 4500rpm. On the other hand, the diesel version gets a 1.5-litre i-dtec engine that makes 98bhp of power at 3600rpm and 200Nm torque from as low as 1750rpm.
