We earlier reported you that Honda is readying an all-new compact crossover named BR-V, which is also supposed to be launched in India in 2016. Even the Japanese automaker released the official sketches of the SUV, earlier this year, and it was confirmed to be debuting at the 2015 GIIAS on August 20; however, the official images of the Honda BR-V have been leaked ahead of its much anticipated unveiling tomorrow in Indonesia.
The folks at AutonetMagz have captured the Honda BR-V in flesh in Indonesia, which is in its near-production avatar. The 7-seater BR-V adorns Honda's ‘XCITING H DESIGN!!!’ design philosophy. As for front fascia, the compact SUV flaunts projector headlamps and chrome-encircled foglamps. There are also large chrome blades at the front alongwith broad airdams. It comes with a high ground clearance, side body cladding and silver roof-rails. At the rear, the BR-V appears to be more of a Mobilio with almost identical door frames. It is also being learnt that Electronic Stability Control (ESC) would also be available with the range-topping variant.
Honda BR-V would be presented in petrol guise in Indonesia with the 1.5L i-VTEC engine, which is also on offer with the Jazz and City. In addition, the compact SUV would also be powered by a heavier and more powerful 1.8L i-VTEC petrol engine, which would develop a maximum power of 137bhp and peak torque of 169Nm. It would be paired with a CVT gearbox. However, it is still unconfirmed whether this engine would be offered with the India-spec model of Honda BR-V. In addition, the Indian version of BR-V is certain to be introduced in diesel fuel trim and would carry the company's tried and trusted 1.5L i-DTEC motor with 99bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. Reports have indicated that Honda Cars India could launch the BR-V at 2016 Auto Expo.
