Honda Brio based compact SUV to replace Vezel plans

Snapshot: Honda Vezel created ripples in the country last month, but now the car is being replaced with a SUV based on the Brio platform

Honda’s Vezel plans for India has been racked and the ever dropping currency rates are not helping the cause either. After facing tough situations with the Honda CR-V, Honda played it safe with the Vezel and decked the plan. Well, the good part? India is a major auto market and the global debut of the City in the country concreted that fact.

The fact that Indian market cannot be ignored and with the Auto Expo around, and plus the fact that the compact SUV segment is oozing like anything, Honda is said to be developing a compact SUV based on Brio platform to replace the Vezel segment in the country.

The platform of the Brio already proved to be so successful with the launch of Amaze, which is a sedan based on the Brio platform. Even the Mobilio MPV would be based on the Brio platform, now the talks about the compact SUV based on the Brio will take the success even further.

The platform of Brio is very flexible and forms a lot of option for many Honda options. Honda also admitted that with the larger SUV wheels, it would be really difficult to fit the bigger wheels on the SUV and it will be a big task for the engineers to fit the large wheels on the SUV.

The Honda Brio-based SUV would see many competitors in the market, which is heating up intensely. With the likes of EcoSport already present in the market, raking money, Honda’s own compact SUV will feel mixed emotions with people experiencing long waiting period for EcoSport, that might push many customers towards Honda.
