Japanese auto giant Honda has unveiled the Mobilio MPV at the recently concluded Indonesia International Motor Show 2013. Designed especially for the Asian markets, the Brio based MPV will also make its Indian debut at the upcoming 2014 Indian Auto Expo.

With Amaze, Honda entered the hugely popular entry level sedan segment, Honda Mobilio will be the company's entry into the lower priced MPV category, which too is doing wonders in the growing markets like India and Indonesia. What goes in favour of Mobilio is its capacious cabin with three row seats to accommodate seven people comfortably despite being compact in size, which shows the company's 'Man Maximum Machine Minimum' philosophy. With a ground clearance of 185mm, the Mobilio is not just better than any other vehicle of its segment in this department, but also better or equal than many SUVs that are being sold today.

While in Indonesia, the Mobilio might be launched with a petrol engine, India will be one of the few markets to receive it in both the diesel and petrol power mills. The diesel engine will be the same 1.5-litre i-DTEC, which does its duty to the newly launched Amaze. Whereas, the Indonesian version (Petrol) of the car will be offered with the Honda city's 1.5-litre i-VTEC gasoline engine, in India this could be the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC, which also powers the Brio and Amaze.

Commenting on the all new Mobilio MPV, Takanobu Ito, President & CEO- Honda Motor Co Ltd said, "The Honda Mobilio is the first model Honda has developed especially for the Indonesian market. Working closely with Honda operations here to study the unique needs of Indonesian customers, this Honda Mobilio will fulfill the dreams of Indonesian customers for an affordable family car featuring Honda's high standard of quality. We will continue to support the expansion of Honda business in Indonesia by introducing new products that meet the needs of our Indonesian customers.

The company hasn't said anything on the exact launch time of the car, we expect it to be rolled out by mid 2014.
