The leading manufacturer of the of premium cars in the country, Honda Cars India Ltd. has announced the price increase across all the models on account of the new levies announced in the Union Budget 2016-17. HCIL said in a statement, the price hike effective from March 1, 2016 will be between Rs 4,000 and Rs 79,000 depending on the model.
Honda Motors sells a range of vehicles starting from the small hatchback Brio with price starting at Rs 4.28 lakh to luxury SUV CR-V priced Rs Rs 25.24 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi), while the price of the Honda Amaze facelift remains the same as announced during the launch on March 3. Already various car manufacturers like Hyundai, Maruti and german luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz has announced the price hike.
As announced in the Union Budget for the fiscal 2016-17, government has decided to impose 2.5 percent cess on diesel vehicles of length not exceeding 4 metre and engine capacity not exceeding 1,500 cc, while a cess of 4 per cent was imposed on higher engine capacity SUVs and bigger sedans, over 1% of the Infrastructure Tax will be imposed on petrol, CNG and LPG Cars of length not exceeding 4-metre with an engine capacity below 1200cc.
