The Honda City has always been a winner its segment and has already received a number of facelifts and upgrades. Adding one more to the series, the next facelift of this popular sedan, codenamed as 2GC is expected to launch in India in January 2017. The facelift will continue its tradition of offering both, a petrol as well as a diesel engine. The reconstructed sedan will have Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz as its competitors.
The petrol will come with a four cylinder iVTEC engine that will have a capacity of 1.5litre. It will churn 118Bhp and 145Nm of peak torque. The petrol variant might also have an option of CVT automatic transmission. In case of the diesel variant, it will be in possession of a four cylinder iDTEC engine that also holds 1.5litre capacity and can produce 99 Bhp of maximum power and 200 Nm of peak torque. There is an immense possibility of the new model being equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The interiors of the famous sedan will be endowed with several audio enhancements like an eight speaker audio system with an inbuilt CD player. To ensure smooth connectivity of your external audio gadgets, Bluetooth and Aux are also supported. The AC vents, both front and rear will come with a touch climate controller. It will also have a 5.7-inch LCD display, a parking camera, electric sunroof, paddle shift, cruise control, and satellite-navigation system. For the rear seats, it will also come with power outlets. Necessary safety options present in the car will be ABS with EBD, rear parking sensor, anti-theft alarm and child safety locks.
The premium exterior will also go through quite a few changes and will be seen in a new avatar which has been inspired by China’s Greiz sedan. The chrome grilles will be broader along with a change in the rear and front bumpers. Other known changes are LED projector headlamps, redesigned tail light, 16-inch alloy wheels, an addition in side creases, and an all new boot lid.
The Honda City 2017 will probably fall in the price range of 8.5 lakhs to 13 lakhs.
