Japanese car manufacturer, Honda is working on an all-new hatchback that is based on the current generation of the Honda City sedan and will be named as the ‘Gienia’. Currently, the sedan is sold in China, but has mild changes by the name of ‘Griez’ and the hatch is basically the sedan with a chopped boot. Looking at the leaked images, the new model is partly inspired by the Concept B that was first showcased in 2014 at the Beijing Motor Show.
The new model gets company’s signature styling at the front that and also gets Honda’s ‘Solid Wing Face’design that was recently seen on the Avancier SUV. The front of the Gienia hatchback features a thick gloss black grille with a large Honda badging over it and a chrome strip underlining it. The projector headlamps are the same as seen on the City sedan sold in India, while on the side, the profile is somewhat same too. Speaking of the rear, it is stylish with those new boomerang tail-lamps just like those on the Civic, and also gets neatly sculpted bumper with subtle chrome accents and a distinct rear spoiler as well.
Under the hood, the new hatchback could be powered by by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that will be capable to deliver a maximum power of 131HP and will also get a transmissions option of CVT gearbox. The car is expected to be launch in China in future, but there is no news about Honda to bring the model in India.
