Honda eyeing extensive dealership expansion in India by the year end

Snapshot: Currently, the company has 195 dealer outlets in 127 cities and it intends to take this tally to 230 in 150 cities by the end of this financial year.

Honda Car India Limited (HCIL), quite overwhelmed with joy as the Mobilio MPV, its latest offering in the country, fared tremendously well, has announced that it would expand its dealership networks across the country by 35 percent. Currently, the company has 195 dealer outlets in 127 cities and it intends to take this tally to 230 in 150 cities by the end of this financial year.

Jnasheswar Sen, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Limited, said that the company received a good response for its all new Honda City and Honda Mobilio in 2014. He further added that The company riding on the success of the 4th generation Honda City, Honda Amaze and the newly launched Honda Mobilio, has registered an overall growth of 48% during the period April-September 2014 with 88,200 units being sold in India. Sen also told the reporters that North India, alone, contributes to more than 27% of the HCIL sales and is witnessing similar growth in the current fiscal year.

As known, the petrol prices are falling down gradually and the gap between petrol and diesel prices has narrowed down to an extent. Hence, Honda is in no mood to reduce the prices of its diesel vehicles. In fact, the buyers have again drifted towards petrol cars due to their low maintenance, high performance, and long lasting durability.
