This June brought good news for every two-wheeler manufacturer in the country. One of the leading makers of two-wheelers in India - Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) - has reported a growth of 28% in its sales for the month of June 2014 over June 2013.
The number of units sold this June was 3,23,224 as compared to 2,51,936 units sold in June 2013. Scooter sales for the Japanese giant increased by 31% at 1,72,119 units against 1,31,250 units sold for the same period last year. The motorcycles sold were 25% more than last year which is highly commendable as it is 2.5 times the growth of the entire industry.
HMSI has almost 25% of the domestic market share, whereas the share reduces a little to 22% if we also add the number of exports to the domestic sales. These figures look very promising for Honda as it plans to sell 45 lakh units in Indian Market by the end of FY 2014-15. Honda also plans to add 1,000 more touch points and increase its network to 3,800 outlets by the end of this financial year to go deeper into the rural market.
