Honda HR-V Electric Launched Globally; Comes With a Range of 400km

Honda has launched the electric vehicle Honda HR-V VE-1 in a joint venture with Guangqi at the 2018 Guangzhou Motor Show. This electric SUV, based on the Everus EV Concept, will be available in three variants.

Honda had launched the VE-1 Sports EV earlier this year at the Shanghai Motor Show. The Honda HR-V VE-1 is a follow up to this launch. The three variants will be priced at Yuan 159,800, 169,800, and 179,800, respectively. It translates to Rs 16 lakhs, 17 lakhs, and 18 lakhs, respectively.

Honda is offering a 3-year or 1-lakh km standard warranty with the Honda HR-V VE-1. The warranty can be extended to eight years or 1.50 lakh km.

The Honda HR-V Electric, also known as Honda Vezel, is inspired by the Everus EV concept and the Honda Binzhi. Its immediate competitors are GAC ix4, Mitsubishi EV, and Kia KX3 Electric. An electric motor capable of producing 120kw (161hp) powers this vehicle. This electric vehicle can deliver a mileage of 401km on a single charge.

The permanent magnet synchronous motor can produce a torque of 280Nm. The motor pairs with a fixed-gear ration single-speed transmission system. This zero-emission SUV has an energy density of 140Wh/kg to enable it to cruise efficiently. The battery pack is situated at the front of this 5-seater vehicle.

The anti-collision structure housing the battery comprises of an I-type battery pack to prevent front-end collision. The H-type collision beam minimizes the damage to the 53.5kWh Li-ion battery pack. The Honda VE-1 interiors feature an 8-inch centrally mounted LCD touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth Connectivity.

The vehicle comes with a map function to search for nearby charging stations. Other features include a panoramic sunroof and button-type shifting mechanism. The dimensions of the Honda-Guangqi VE-1 are 4308mm X 1824mm X 1625mm with a 2610mm long wheelbase.
