Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India inaugurated their fourth manufacturing plant at Vithalapur in Gujarat yesterday. Strengthening their “make in India” initiative the new plant will produce 1 .2 million automatic scooters annually and as we talk about it the first production line of the initial 6 lakh units has already begun by now. On the other hand the second line will start from mid-2016 which will further add another 6 lakh units.
By the addition of this new manufacturing facility, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India will now produce 5.8 million units of two-wheelers annually. The plant has been built with in a timeline of just 13 months at a building cost of INR 1,100 crore. The new plant will create a job opportunity for over 3,000 people and Honda’s linked suppliers will usher in another 6,000 indirect employment opportunities. It is the first in world Honda’s two wheeler plant where the entire press shop is fully automated with 24 hours working robots.

Ltd. said,“Increasing Scooterization, a trend seen earlier in developed markets of the world, is the key driver for Indian 2Wheeler industry today. Mr. Keita Muramatsu further added, “For us Gujrat is a very important market and we have a major market share of almost 62% in Gujrat. As we gear up to take up this challenge of meeting the customer demand, Gujarat is an ideal home and a springboard to achieve greater heights. Now, the Honda automatic scooter you ride will not only be “Made in India” but also “Made in Gujarat.”
