Honda Japan has made its entry in the 400CC segment with the 2019 CBR 400R 'faired' motorcycle. Earlier, this segment had only one contender - Kawasaki Ninja 400 but now, it will face the competition from the new CBR 400R. The motorcycle takes the styling cues from its bigger sibling - the CBR 500R.

Not just the styling but the bike also has same colour schemes as the ongoing CBR 500R which recently received an update as well in the global market. 2019 CBR 400R comes in three sets of colours - Grand Prix Red, Mat Axis Gray Metallic and Pearl Glare White. The bike has been renewed to the 'styling full of speed' design philosophy of Honda and in the first glimpse, it seems to carry a 'sportier riding stance', all thanks to the clip-on handlebars.

The bike is equipped with a 399CC, liquid cooled, in-line twin cylinder engine that churns out 46hp at 9000RPM and 38NM of torque at 7,500RPM. Honda claims that the reviewed intake system makes the motor to provide the rider with lower and mid-range torque. The fuel-injected engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox that comes with slipper clutch and ABS is standard. CBR 400R has all-LED lighting (headlights, tail light and turn indicators) with LCD display that now has gear shift indicators adding to the overall sporty and premium feel of the bike.

The braking duties are carried out by single disc at the front and back. It uses a conventional telescopic fork and a monoshock suspension, the upside down forks would have aided the rider more in terms of comfort and ride quality. The CBR 400R has 120/70-17 at the front and a 160/60-17 at the rear (name of the rubber is yet to be revealed).

There's no word from the brand about the CBR 400R hitting the Indian shores as of now. Honda is on a spree to update its ongoing models and we can only speculate about the motorcycles that will go through this exciting process.
