Honda has launched the Activa 125 in India at an on-road price (Mumbai) of Rs. 62,276 for the standard version and Rs. 69,500 for the deluxe model. The largest two-wheeler company in the world had opened the bookings, less than a fortnight ago, of their latest Indian scooter for a booking amount of Rs. 5000.
The Honda Activa 125 gets an all-new 125 cc single cylinder, air-cooled motor that produces 8.6 bhp at 6500 rpm while the torque churned out is rated at 10.12 Nm at 5500 rpm. Readers would have noticed by now that while the horsepower figure is similar to that produced by the Suzuki Access' motor, the Activa 125's torque is better than the Suzuki's 9.8 Nm, although the latter's twisting force comes in at 500 rpm less than the Honda's. Only a shoot-out between the two will tell us how tractable these scoots are in the real world.
The base variant of the Activa 125 gets 130 mm drum brakes at the front and rear, while the Deluxe version gets a 190 mm disc, that too mounted on a larger 12-inch front wheel. However, Honda has given both the variants its Honda’s Combi Braking System.
Both the variants of the Activa 125 are 1814 mm long, 704 mm wide, 1151 mm tall, and have a wheelbase of 1260 mm. The new scooter is expected to deliver a fuel efficiency of 60 km/l. It is being offered in four colours - blue, silver, black and white.
