It didn't come as a surprise to us. In fact, we kept on thinking why Honda took so much of time to do the best thing for them as a factory racing team. But, it's here finally, Marc Marquez has decided to stay with team Honda, the first team with which he won his first championship, for two more seasons.
If you are still don't approve of Honda's decision (not that it matters), figure this out. From the time he has joined the Team Honda, Marquez has raced in twenty-two MotoGPs and out of which he has finished on podium 20 times. He has won 10 times, finished second on 6 occasions and 4 third's, and if this is not enough, he has earned 13 pole positions too.
This season, it is highly unlikely that the championship is going anywhere away from him. Marquez has won every race this season - all from pole position, and leads the championship by 28 points.
"We are very satisfied to have reached an agreement to keep Marc in the team for a further two seasons. Of course as Honda we wanted to keep Marc in our family and he also wanted to stay with us so it was natural to renew the contract even if it is very early in the season! He is enjoying a fantastic start to 2014 and even though he is still learning, his ability to absorb information and adapt to the machine is remarkable," Shuhei Nakamoto – HRC Executive Vice President said.
