Honda India has commenced the production of its upcoming MPV, the Mobilio, in India. Recently, a few images surfaced over the web world revealing the Mobilio being assembled at Honda's Greater Noida facility. Earlier, the new MPV was anticipated to be launched around the end of this year but this recent development makes the possibility of it to reach the company's outlets around June.
Honda unveiled the Mobilio in February at 2014 Auto Expo India. The new MPV is the company's first 7-seater car and will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Chevrolet Enjoy in the market. Based on the Brio's platform, the Mobilio is measured at 4.4 meters in total length. The MPV is enriched with Honda's 'Man maximum Machine minimum' philosophythat makes it the most spacious car among its competition.
Power will come from the 1.5-litre units for both petrol and diesel options, derived from the City sedan. The i-VTEC petrol engine will generate power of 116 BHP while the diesel variants will have the drive of 100 BHP on their tap. Transmission duty will get done by a 5-speed manual in petrol variants and a 6-speed manual in diesel models to deliver the force to front wheels. Honda is likely to offer the petrol powered model with CVT transmission as well. The Mobilio is likely to be priced between Rs 6 and 9 lakhs in the country and being a Honda, it will certainly be a strong competitor for the leaders in the segment.
