The Indian arm Japanese auto major, Honda said that it will recall a total of 57,676 units of its previous generation product range like City, Jazz and Civic in India. The recall is a part of Honda’s preventive global campaign to fix faulty driver side airbags inflators. Honda said that it will voluntarily replace the driver side airbag inflators of all the vehicles, which will be free of cost to respective Honda customers across the country.
The replacement of the driver side airbags will be done in a phased manner, starting from February 20, 2016. The recall will impact 49,572 units of Honda City sedan manufactured between January 2012-June 2013, 7,504 units of Jazz that were manufactured between February 2013-February 2013 and 600 units of Honda Civic manufactured between January 2012 and August 2012.
Earlier, Honda Cars India recalled 2.23 lakh units of CR-V, Civic sedan, City, and Jazz which were manufactured between 2003 and 2012, for the same issue. Honda puts a high priority on the safety of their products and the customers can also check whether their car falls under this scheme by logging in to www.hondacarindia.com and submit their 17-character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
