As per reports, Honda Cars India Ltd is working on next-generation of the Amaze compact sedan. It is being speculated that the Japanese car manufacturer would showcase the new Amaze at the 2018 Auto Expo that will take place in Greater Noida and will be launched thereafter in a few months. Reports also suggest that development of the second-generation Amaze has completed already. The development of the new model has been done at the company's R&D centre in Thailand, though the Honda India team also added some inputs for the car.
Reports suggest that the development has been done with the 4 meter length in mind and thus the new Amaze will continue to benefit from the smaller excise slab for smaller cars. However, the second-gen model is expected to be wider than the current Amaze, which is likely to make the cabin roomier. The 2018 Amaze will also likely come with an updated infotainment system and climate control console.
Mechanically, the new Amaze compact sedan is likely to come with the same set of engines and will be available in both petrol as well as diesel guise, with the diesel unit would be more powerful than the previous one. In order to compete with Dzire AMT, Honda is analysing the market response to come up with its own automatic variant for the new Amaze.
The new Honda Amaze will compete with the likes of the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Hyundai Xcent, Volkswagen Ameo and Tata Tigor.
