Hyosung GD250R likely to reach India in July
Snapshot: Hyosung planning to launch GD250R in India
Hyosung is planning an aggressive strategy to set its footprints well in the Indian market. Started this year with the launch of 250cc Aquila cruiser at the 2014 Auto Expo, the company had also showcased the GD250N there; expected to be the next player from the Hyosung family in India. However, it recently emerged that the Korean motorcycle maker is contemplating to bring the fully-faired version of the GD250N aka GD250R and will introduce it around the advent of second half of 2014, prior to the launch of GD250N in the Indian market.
The GD250R is a fully-faired version of the regular GD250N naked bike, similarly as KTM and Bajaj developing new RC and SS series bikes accordingly which are based on their street fighter models. The GD250R is embellished with an striking front fairing, considerably revised ergonomics and a few more cosmetic changes to other elements. Power will come from the same 250cc single-cylinder, water-cooled unit that serves duty on the GD250N and produces peak power of 27.3 BHP, to be transferred to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox.
Also, there are chances of suspension to be tweaked on stiff side to make the bike even more agile and planted on high speeds. Hyosung will import the GD250R via CKD (completely knock down) units route and will assemble it at its Pune facility. Unlike its elder sibling GT250R, the GD250R is highly likely to be priced aggressively due to single pot engine construction and we do hope it to reach the company's outlets with an sticker price between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 2.5 lakh.
