Hyundai recently launched the Xcent, its sub-4 metre sedan based on the Grand i10 in the Indian market. The company claims that in a time period of just 30 days, it has got over 1,00,000 bookings with a similar number of enquiries being generated. The Xcent is the company's first player in the compact (sub-4 meter) sedan segment based on the Grand i10 hatchback platform. Last month, we tested the Xcent extensively in Hyderabad and were impressed with its overall performance (Read our Review here).

The Xcent comes in two different engine options- 1.2-litre Kappa petrol and 1.1-litre U2 CRDI diesel power plant. Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while the petrol- powered Xcent also gets an archaic 4-speed automatic transmission.

Being a Hyundai, we can expect lots of features and gadgets, and the Xcent is no exception with all four power windows, power steering, automatic climate control, keyless entry, electronically adjustable and retractable ORVMs, audio system with 1 GB internal memory and multi-connectivity, a parktronic system with rear-view camera,  Anti-lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution, airbags – the list is endless.

The Xcent has entered the Indian market while being a tough competition to its major nemesis' the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and the Honda Amaze. The price range of Xcent petrol starts from Rs 4.65 lakhs and Rs 5.56 lakhs for its basic variant and goes upto Rs 7.22 lakhs for top-of-the-line SX(O) automatic petrol variant while Rs 7.44 lakhs for diesel top-end manual variant (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
