Hyundai sold 16,234 units of Creta, Kona EV, Tucson and Venue in July.
It currently occupies 21% of market share in the UV segment.
The company outpaced Mahindra by 231 units in July sales.
Hyundai India tipped major players in the UV segment, to emerge as the leading car giant with 16,234 units retailed in July. While Hyundai’s newly launched, Venue accounted for a large part of the pie with 9,600 units, the combined sales of Creta, Kona EV SUV and Tucson helped Korean brand take the lead, leaving behind Mahindra by 231.
Maruti Suzuki India occupied the third spot as it sold around 15,178 units last month on the back of models such as S-Cross, Vitara Brezza and Ertiga. Turning out to be a game-changer for Hyundai, the Venue has helped the company occupy 21% of market share in the UV segment. Besides, the Korean giant witnessed just 10% slip in sales opposed to MSI’s massive 37%.
Climbing up the ladder in the UV space, Venue garnered 7,000 units in the first month after launch, while trailing behind Brezza in June by just 108 units. In July, it took over the sub-compact SUV space with 9,585 units.
Touted to be India’s first connected car, it gets 1.2L petrol and 1.4L diesel engine with a manual and segment-first 7-speed DCT unit.
