Hyundai India has quietly launched a couple of automatic variants of the Creta compact SUV in the country. The company has introduced automatic gearbox with the SX+ variant in petrol guise. Though, the SX+ grade in the 1.6L diesel fuel trim already comes with automatic transmission, but now the S+ variant would also have auto gearbox. Hyundai Creta is the only compact SUV in the segment to be available with automatic gearbox.
Now, Hyundai Creta has two automatic variants - S+ and SX+ - in diesel fuel trim. Recently, Renault Duster was launched with AMT gearbox and was priced in a range of Rs. 11.67-12.87 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom), which is quite less than Hyundai Creta SX+ automatic. Hence, the arrival of S+ automatic would give the company something, which can compete with the Duster AMT. The S+ automatic variant would lack features like projector headlamps, dual tone grille, push button start, automatic climate control, and rear wiper. Just so you know, Hyundai Creta SX+ diesel automatic accounts for 18 percent of total sales of the compact SUV.
Hyundai Creta has crossed over 1 Lakh bookings within eight months of its launch in the country. Now, the company is all set to venture in sub-compact SUV segment by introducing the Carlino concept based vehicle in 2017. Having made its world premiere at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Carlino sub 4-meter SUV was received quite well by the auto aficionados. Also, the South Korean automaker has decided to postpone the plan of introducing the Hexaspace concept based MPV as it firstly intends to launch the sub 4-meter SUV. In addition, Hyundai would launch the Tucson facelift in September this year, which would be positioned between Creta and Santa Fe.
