Hyundai India has quietly launched the Creta S+ AT at a sticker price of Rs. 13.56 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) in the country. It is around Rs. 1.06 Lakhs dearer to the Creta SX+ AT, which is the flagship variant in the entire SUV line-up. The South-Korean automaker, a couple of months back, had introduced automatic variant in petrol fuel trim in SX+ grade. Reportedly, Hyundai Creta S+ AT has a waiting period of two months in the country.
Currently, SUVs with automatic gearbox are the flavour of the season with a steep rise in sales. Hence, this move could well reap rich dividends for the company and further consolidate Creta's supreme position in the segment. The Creta S+ AT provides the prospective buyers with a less expensive option. However, as compared to the SX+ AT, it misses out on several premium features like projector headlamps, dual tone grille, push button start, rear wiper and automatic climate control. But still, it comes with an array of high-end features such as 7-inch touchscreen audio system with 6 speakers, bluetooth streaming, 1GB HDD, dual airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and foglamps.
Under the bonnet, it has the same 1.6L 4-cylinder CRDi diesel engine with Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT). It belts out 128bhp of top power and 256Nm of peak torque, while being linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The automatic gearbox also gets a torque converter as standard. The company has sold around 1 Lakh units of the compact SUV, ever since its launch. It recently rolled out an anniversary edition to mark the first anniversary of Creta in India. Hyundai Creta Anniversary Edition would go on sale from next month, while the first unit, a little while ago, was handed over to ace shuttler Saina Nehwal. Hyundai Creta automatic has no direct competitor in the Indian market as the Duster comes with AMT gearbox.
