Hyundai is creating a lot of news these days for both right and wrong reasons. While the change of the name from ix25 to 'Creta' didn't go well with many trade pundits, the confirmation that Hyundai is ready to launch the Creta is awaited by many. And now after many camouflaged images, Team BHP has finally managed to get hold of the undisguised Creta.
Hyundai has confirmed to launch the Creta on the coming 21st July, 2015 in the country. Hyundai will provide the Verna sourced 1.6-litre petrol unit and a 1.4-litre diesel unit to the Creta. The compact SUV will get the option of both manual and automatic transmissions. The images surfaced online are shot standing in the Hyundai plant as well as on the test.
A Hyundai statement reads, "Consistent with the core concepts underpinning Hyundai Motor’s Modern Premium brand direction – SIMPLE, CREATIVE, CARING – the ‘Creta’ name is simple and easy to remember. Pronunciation of Creta evokes welcome similarities with the term ‘creative’. The Creta name will be used for all the global markets".
Hyundai Creta will compete against the Ford Ecosport, Renault Duster among other rivals in the highly competitive compact SUV market. The pricing of the Creta is expected to be around Rs 7-10 Lakhs and the Korean manufacturer is positive that the ix25 derived Creta will garner a good response from the Indian as well as the global markets.
