Buoyed by the success of its latest launch, the Elite i20 Hyundai Motor India Limited(HMIL) is on a roll it seems. The company has reported a growth of over 19 percent in its domestic sales numbers for August 2014 from August of last year. It sold 33,750 units in India this August as compared to 28,311 units in August 2013.
According to Rakesh Srivastava, Senior VP- Sales and Marketing, HMIL, the company managed to build this with the overwhelming response for the new products such as Elite i20, Xcent and the Grand all of which are doing extremely well in both diesel and petrol versions in their categories.
The car maker has also reported bookings of well over 12,000 for its new Elite i20 in under 15 days of its launch, a feat few carmakers have managed in India. The new i20 is available in choice of a petrol and diesel engine option and starts at Rs 4.89 lakh(ex-showroom, Delhi).
The company is optimistic about its growth trajectory with the upcoming festive season, which has traditionally been a time of improved car sales in India.
