Hyundai India has announced that its premium hatch Elite i20 has achieved the milestone of cumulative sales of 100,000 units in India. Just so you know, it has taken even less than a year for the Hyundai Elite i20 to surpass the magical figure of 1,00,000 units. To be precise, the second-generation Hyundai i20 was launched on August 11, 2014 in the country and it has taken a mere 11 months to achieve this milestone.
Celebrating this moment of success, Mr. B S Seo, MD & CEO, HMIL said, “We are overwhelmed with the customer’s response by receiving over unprecedented 100,000 sales for the Elite i20 in 11 months. This reflects the strong customer connect and confidence on Hyundai products. We thank customers, channel partner, employees and media who have chosen our product Elite i20 making it as a super performer brand in India and who have contributed to this landmark achievement.” Hyundai Elite i20 was the most awarded car of 2014-15 as it won as many as 25 awards, including the prestigious Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) 2015. Furthermore, it forayed into the list of top 10 most selling brands in India within the second month of its launch.
Hyundai India also rolled out the i20 Active pseudo-crossover based on the Elite i20 hatchback this year. Now, the South-Korean automajor is all set to stage the world premiere of its new global compact SUV Creta in India on July 21, 2015. The production of the compact SUV has already begun at company's Chennai plant and it would rival the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Maruti S-Cross and higher variants of Ford EcoSport. Hyundai Creta would have over 90 percent of localization which would result in aggressive pricing.
