Hyundai India has announced that Elite i20 premium hatch has achieved the sales milestone of 150,000 units since its launch in March 2014 in the country. Since 15 months, the Elite i20 continues to be the most-preferred premium hatchback for the customer as it now commands 66% market share in the premium compact segment of the Indian auto market.
Commenting on the strong sales performance and brand success, Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. Vice President, Sales & Marketing, HMIL, said, “We are overwhelmed with the customer’s response by receiving unprecedented 150,000 domestic sales for the Elite i20. It has been dominating the premium hatchback segment, while challenging the likes of Honda Jazz, Maruti Baleno, Volkswagen Polo and Fiat Punto Evo. Some time back, the company introduced the touch-screen infotainment system equipped variants of the hatch in order to compete with Honda Jazz. For those asking, Hyundai i20 is also available in a sportier avatar - the i20 Active - which locks horns with Volkswagen CrossPolo, Toyota Etios Cross and Fiat Avventura.
