India’s second largest carmaker Hyundai rolled out the all-new version of its flagship hatchback, the i20 in the country earlier this week called the Hyundai Elite i20 with prices starting at Rs 4.89 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi.) The pre-launch bookings of the model that had commenced in the country on the 1st of August has reached an impressive number of 4,600 registrations, according to a company official.
Of the 4,600 bookings, 2,600 are for the petrol engine powered variants of the Elite i20 and 2,000 are towards the diesel variant. Hyundai Motor India is aiming to sell about 6,000 units each month of the Elite i20 and expects the petrol and diesel variants to contribute equally to the set target. The outgoing i20 hatchback used to contribute with 3,800 units per month on an average to the sales report.
In the Indian market, the Hyundai Elite i20 has been priced at Rs 4.89 lakh for the base petrol variant, while the base diesel variant costs Rs 6.09 lakh. The top-end trim levels of the hatchback are being offered at Rs 6.46 lakh and Rs 7.66 lakh for petrol and diesel variant respectively. (All prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi.) The petrol variants make use of 1.2-litre unit that puts out 85PS of max power and the diesel variants are being powered with a 1.4-litre powerplant with 92PS of max power on tap.
