Hyundai India has been working on a facelifted version of Grand i10 hatch for quite sometime. Recently, the Hyundai Grand i10 facelift was spotted as test mule, and now it is being learnt that it would be launching in January 2017 in the Indian market. A couple of months back, the South-Korean automaker unveiled the Europe-spec Grand i10 at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. And, if the insiders are to be believed, then the styling updates in the India-spec facelifted model would be borrowed from the Euro-spec Grand i10.
Speaking about the cosmetic updates, the Hyundai Grand i10 facelift would feature wider and lower front grille, flanked by restyled bumpers. The headlamps would be updated as well. The side profile would mostly be retained from the ongoing model, save for the newly-designed alloy wheels. The rear end would boast of a new bumper and refreshed tail-lamp cluster and tailgate. Inside the cabin, the range-topping variants are expected to get a touchscreen infotainment system, identical to their European siblings. The current front seats are learnt to be replaced with new ones, which carry adjustable headrests. Just so you know, the Grand i10 was launched in the Indian market in September 2013, while positioned between the i10 hatchback and i20 hatchback.
Mechanically, the Grand i10 facelift, like the ongoing model, would be available in both petrol and diesel guises. The company is expected to continue with the same set of 1.2L 4-cylinder petrol engine and 1.1L 3-cylinder diesel engine. The transmission options would also be the same in both the fuel trims. The Grand i10 would take on the likes of Ford Figo, Chevrolet Beat, Maruti Swift and Fiat Punto in the Indian market. For those asking, the company is also working mid-cycle facelift for the Grand i10-based Xcent compact sedan. It is expected to debut a couple of months later in March 2017 in the country with updates strictly being cosmetic. The Grand i10 has constantly featured in the list of top 10 cars sold every month in India, right from its launch three years back.
